THE OLD ARBAT ART DECO SUITE
We spent 6 nights in this apartment for our 3rd adoption trip. It was so nice having the extra space with our newly adopted daughter and the ability to cook our own meals was outstanding. Old Arbat street is a 1 min walk from the apartment building exit and is right across from Hard Rock Cafe along with many other restaurants for those who prefer to eat out. There's also a great grocery store, "7th Continent" which is only a 4-5 min walk to the West end of Arbat St next to the McDonald's. Free WiFi and international calls worked wonderfully. This apartment is safe, clean, quiet and for the most part comfortable. The shower is a bit awkward just because of the unique tub design but the large tub was definitely a treat for our daughter's nightly bath time, it was almost equivalent to a small kids play pool. The mattress in the main bedroom is firmer than average and has a few areas where you can feel the springs so if the rental company is looking to sink any money into the apartment I'd start by replacing this mattress. Also, the kitchen was lacking a few items such as can opener, more cooking utensils and some small non-stick fry pans. Otherwise the kitchen had everything we needed. We'd definitely stay here again and have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with Peace Travel Services.

THE OLD ARBAT PRESTIGE
My husband and I stayed here for our second trip of three for the adoption of our baby girl. We have already rebooked for our return in a few weeks to pick up our daughter. We found the space very functional and it is a great location for walking pretty much anywhere you'd like to go (not so good for driving). It was quiet, and we slept well even considering the 12 hour time difference from San Francisco! Recommend.

First, you can?t go wrong with Peace Travel. They do what they say they will do, and will do everything they can to accommodate your needs. Dimitry, was able to help us get this apartment in the same building when we had to extend our stay and the first apartment was booked. He also helped by looking up train schedules for us and arranged a taxi for the ride to the train station. I feel like we were high maintenance, and it was very nice to have someone that speaks very good English to deal with.
The apartment was nice, and the location was great. There are many American restaurants within walking distance; however they tend to be more expensive. There are 2 grocery stores across the road. You can find plenty to cook in the apartment. We had Peace arrange a driver to pick us up at the airport, the driver was very helpful and showed us up to the apartment. He even waited a long time for us, because our luggage was lost and had to wait a long time at the claims office. One note make sure you have a way to contact the Peace Travel Moscow office while traveling, email address, phone number and skype. We missed one of our flights and didn?t have the right contact info not to mention very little time between new flights to try to make new arrangements. So the driver showed up for the first arrival time. We were very happy all around with peace travel. We never had any safety concerns in or around the building. I would suggest providing instructions for the washing machine in English that would be a big help.
The other apartment we stayed in was Arbatsky Suite, it was a little bigger and nice as well.
We will be staying there again soon.

THE OLD ARBAT PRESTIGE
We stayed in this apartment for the 2nd trip of our adoption travels and really enjoyed our time. The "adoptive family" pricing is a nice reassurance given uncertainties of adoption travels. We much preferred the apartment experience compared to staying in a hotel during our 1st trip. Being able to prepare food in your apartment is so much less stressful and less expensive than eating at restaurants.
The apartment is quiet, clean, comfortable. We felt very safe/secure in the apartment and while walking around Arbat St. WiFi was very fast, allowing constant connectivity and crystal clear video skype with family back in the USA. Also, free international calling was clear and easy to use. 2 min walk to Arbat St with plenty of restaurants if you desire. We cooked all meals in the apartment and the "7th Continent" grocery store at the West end of Arbat St. is only 5-7 min walk, open 24hrs and very comparable to grocery stores in the U.S; highly recommend this store. Apartment only has a stove-top so don't buy food that requires an oven.
If your you have a young child with you there's an included pack and play but no suitable sleeping for older children.
Only room for improvement is a couch or comfortable lounge chairs for reading/relaxing/watching TV. The apartment has ample room. If a sleeper couch could be included then this apartment would be all the better, especially for families traveling with older children.

KAMERGERSKY
This apartment is in an excellent location close to Red Square. There is a convenient store nearby where we purchased some groceries. However, we were unable to buy diapers there. We had three adults, one child and an infant staying in the apartment and had plenty of space. We thought the apartment was very comfortable and would recommend it to anyone looking for an apartment close to Red Square.

KAMERGERSKY
This was a good apartment and a great price. The location is GREAT. It is so close to the Kremlin and Red Square. We walked there in about 4 minutes. There is a lot of great food options near by and a lot of foot traffic. The apartment manager was great. We had a problem with our oven and she came right up to take a look at it.
The internet was fast and the rooms were very spacious. There is only a shower though, which was great for us, but if I had a little one with me, I would want to have a tub too.
We did have the same problem as the review below, with the odor in the bathroom. We figured out it was the water coming from the toilette and sink. I think there is a high sulfer content. We just made sure we kept the toilette seat cover closed when not in use and shut the bathroom door. So, it wasn't a problem.
Anyway, It worked out well for us and we had a great visit!

GARDEN RING
No complaints about the apartment - spacious, convenient and fully functional. Our only concern was a phone call late one night from the apartment representative. We had a baby sleeping in the crib provided by the apartment which the representative knew about but that didn't seem to make a difference. We would stay in the apartment again.

Dear Susan,
thank you for your review. We're sorry for the late call, we'll speak to the responsible manager about that.

WHITE HOUSE
Great location on New Arbat. Just a block from Old Arbat. 30 minute walk down to Kremlin/Red Square/St.Basils Cathedral. Located near 2 big grocery stores - one on New Arbat and one next to McDonald's on Old Arbat. Shopping center and mall across the street. Cinema next door. Window view of Kremlin in the distance and New Arbat. Can see a lot of Moscow from the 22nd floor. Apartment is well heated. Fully furnished. The building is very secure. Apartment gives you a true feel for Russian life. Wireless internet was great. Was able to find a couple english speaking channels on the TV. Free international calls was wonderful.

This apartment met our needs perfectly. The location is excellent with very easy walking access to Red Square and to the American Embassy. The kitchen was well equipped and being able to cook our own meals saved us a ton of money. There is a grocery store within a quick walk as well. Overall, I would highly recommend this apartment!

LESNAYA
This apartment was our home away from home for a 10 day stay in Moscow. We were very comfortable and where we were able to relax after our busy days. It is not a fancy place, but it has everything that we needed and we felt very much "at home" there. Staying in this apartment we really were experiencing life in Moscow for a brief time. The building seemed quite secure (accessible only by special key) and the apartment itself has two doors for added security. There are 2 phones, 1 for local calls, and the other for free international calling. We were able to call home to America several times a day to check in with the kids and the wireless internet allowed us to use Skype, post pictures, and check email daily. This communication made our stay much easier on the family than previous trips. There is a small corner market at the corner of Lesnaya where we could purchase packaged foods. Belaruskaya metro station was 10-15 min walk. We took train 1 two stops to Prospect Mira and then changed trains to Ryscaya (1 stop) ...there is a large 3 story 24 hr grocery/department store here, large farmers market with fresh fruit, veggies, salads, and meats. There are instruction in Russian and English about how to use the phones and a map of the metro lines, but I wish they would add directions about how to use the washing machine. I did get the clothes clean, but I am still not sure what I set it on.

We stayed in this apartment on our first adoption trip. We also took their transportation service from and to the airport wich was great. Both drivers were very friendly and talked good english.
The location of the apartment was great on New Arbat street where we can find a lot of stores and restaurant in walking distances. It's also in walking distance to Kremlin and Red Square.
The apartment itself is very comfortable and well equiped. We were surprised how comfortable the bed was. Everything was clean.

THEATER SUITE
The apartment is located just a short walk to the Kremlin/Red Square/St.Basil's. If you prefer the sights and sounds of the big city, this is a great location. The traffic noise on Tverskaya street can be a bit loud if you are a light sleeper. The apartment itself was clean but in need of a freshening. The kitchen is small but functional and everything worked. Overall, if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay near the city center, this apartment is worth considering. If you are looking for the equivalent of a modern hotel with a kitchen, this is not going to meet your expectations. As an aside, everything we requested (iron, cell phone, etc.) was delivered as promised. Also, the free international phone calls were reliable and clear. We did not have any issues with the hot water as noted below.

NEW ARBAT 22 RETRO SUITE
Overall this apartment was fine. Internet worked great, we felt safe and everything was working. The bed is a double so it is kind of small for two people. Also the AC is only in the living room so the bedroom does not cool off too well. Can't open a window at night because of all the street noise from below. Also you can't take a shower. It has one of those wands but when you hang it on the wall it just shoots straight back and gets everything wet, so you will have to hold it by hand.

Dear Greg,
Thank you for your review. We'll look into that shower issue.

GARDEN RING
The positives to this apartment are the price and location. It was cheaper than any hotel I could find within the Garden Ring. It is located on New Arbat street, close to the embassy and not too far from the Kremlin and Red Square.
There were several negatives, though. The floors, walls and pipes looked like they hadn't been washed in a long time.
The bathroom often smelled like the plumbing were backed up.
The stove stopped working briefly.
I got shocked when i pulled a plug out of the socket and shocked again on the dishwasher - I think there might have been an electrical problem.
I was able to make one free international call. After that, no dial tone.
My last night in the apartment, there was no wifi, no int'l. calls and no local calls.
As long as you know the negatives ahead of time, it still may be worth it to you to rent this apt. As I said, location and price were great.
|
| |
Thank you for your review!
Yes, you have to be careful with the power sockets because the plugs may go off when you move the kitchen furniture so it's best not to move the stove and the dishwasher at all. I'm sure the Internet problem will be fixed soon and the international calls too. We can also provide a calling card if the main dial-around service isn't working for some reason.

ARBAT CENTRAL
I was really impressed with this apartment. It is situated in a great loction, 5-10 mins walk to the closest metro station and 10-15 mins walk to the red square. I work in the airline industry and I stay in hotels all over, but this apartment beats any hotel you could get around this area. It is very safe, warm and comfortable and above all clean! Even local Moscow residents were impressed. I will most definitely stay here again.
I would also highly, highly recommend Peace Travel Services to book through. I found the whole experience overwhelmingly positive and professional. The communication between myself and the booking agents (special mention Dmitry) was also outstanding. Very personal service.

KAMERGERSKY
This is my second time staying at this apartment in six months. I did not want to stay anywhere else on my return trip to Moscow. It is truly a gem -- close to everything, in the best part of town. You sort of get the feeling of living with the locals, but with the quick, efficient and English speaking managers .... you don't have to struggle with the language barrier. Any emails sent to the managers regarding the apartment, questions, issues were answered within a couple of hours. It really is superbly efficient and convenient.
As for the apartment itself, it's simple, small but very comfortable, clean and convenient. My favorite feature is the wide window ledges -- plenty wide to sit up there and have a cup of coffee, glass of wine, whatever.... while looking down on the street (apartment is on 7th floor). --- Right across the street is some sort of a performing art school -- and at night you can see the dancers, actors etc. rehearse.
My only criticism is that there was an unpleasant odor emanating from the shower cabin in the bathroom -- we couldn't decide if it maybe wasn't insulated properly, or the smell came from the drain.

NEW ARBAT 22 RETRO SUITE
Everything was great. Apartment was clean throughout. All the appliances worked well. Service, if needed, was quick and effective (we had one issue where the toilet kept running, and the repair man was there soon and showed us how to use it properly so we didn't have the problem again).
We felt very much at home by the end of our stay, and didn't want to leave. The view is great. The location is great. If we return to Moscow we will probably look for this apartment first. Peace Travel - we heard good things from others and found them to be true.
A couple things to keep in mind. The air conditioner is in one room only, but if you keep it on high during the day the whole place is cool enough. Also, there is a washer but we could not figure out how to dry clothes, probably a cultural thing we need to learn. We ended up putting clothes on the large window sills, and that worked fine.

THE OLD ARBAT RAINBOW SUITE
My rating for this apartment is satisfactory. It has several very positive features:
- very large and roomy. The 2 bedrooms and living room are all quite big. It could sleep 6 very comfortably. It also has a balcony, which is a nice feature.
- location. It is very close to the Arbat and a close walk to Smolenskaya metro stop. Many shops, restaurants, and cafes are nearby.
The one drawback to this apartment is that it is a second floor apartment that faces the street. Although there is not a lot of vehicle traffic on the street, there is quite a bit of foot traffic and thus street noise (people talking loudly, music from the nearby Arbat, etc.). Most months of the year this would not be an issue. But in June there was a definite tradeoff between opening the windows at night for some cooler air, and closing the windows to reduce street noise. 2 of the rooms have fans, which helped those sleeping in those rooms.
Depending on the time of year and the size of your group, this may be an excellent choice for you, but the noise may be an issue for some.
As always, service by the Peace Travel Services team was exemplary.
